Rashna Owens obtained a BA in Christian Theology working on her Master and plans to graduate with a Doctorate degree in the same field of education.Founder and sole owner of RED I GRAVY AFFAIR.She brings Bay Area poets and community speakers into the penal system which provides a means of communication within the community upon release.Although she does not limit herself. Rashna has worked in many different communities,Latino Commission for Substance Abuse,youth offenders,high school students,homeless,substance abuse and women who have become victims of society.The last 7 years with a continuous working relationship with Senior Ex-Offender Program in San Francisco where she also obtained In The Trenches Award as a Change Agent,California Women In Prison,God's Squad etc.
She volunteers her time helping in the development of a Women's groups for Wardrobe for Opportunity,to include a Representative Speaker
for the program,June 2011 she will have completed the I year long program and will be graduating.Rashna has a very diverse background and shares her experiences through writing,poetry,and community activism.She has many accomplishments Keynote Speaker for Rev Sung Moon as one of the first 120 minister to travel to Korea and Japan to pray for Peace,channel 7 news with Carolyn Tyler,meant Danny Glover,Writers Resource,Diverse Poets from Atlantic City NJ,Bay Area Poets,also a Board member- Senior Ex-OffenderProgram, her story written in Azziah Magazine for Muslim Women,belongs to various community liaison.She carries hope,love and inspiration to all she meets but she loves to learn from all those she meet as well.A mother of two and bubbling granddaughter.Rashna was born in Munich,Germany,considers Atlantic City,NJ her home and currently resides in Oakland,Ca.
